While traveling through Indonesia, Mila Alexander discovered the Gumoil technique—a rare and expressive process that fuses photography with painting. She undertook a residency at Gumoil Studios in Bali, where this latest collection of art was born.
The Gumoil process involves coating the paper with a light-sensitive gum solution, exposing it to an image, and then working over it with oil paints. The result is a one-of-a-kind artistic expression—blending the depth and richness of oil painting with the ethereal qualities of photography.
Each artwork is created on handmade, 100% cotton paper sourced exclusively in Indonesia, adding another layer of authenticity and texture to the work.
